Humanitarian aid explored
The Kiwanis Club of Roseburg have a no-host lunch and meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Kowloon Restaurant, 2686 N.E. Diamond Lake Blvd., Roseburg.
This week’s guest speaker is local resident Ron Baker. He will offer a slide show and discussion of his efforts to install Water Wells and Sewage Systems in underdeveloped countries.
The Dec. 10 meeting will feature a program by Roland and Gloria Johnson. They will discuss humanitarian relief initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo undertaken by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its local partners. These programs include development of clean water projects, neonatal resuscitation training, wheelchair donations, immunization and vision services. The Johnsons look forward to participating in these humanitarian service programs in the coming year.
Anyone interested in these topics or in learning more about Kiwanis is welcome to attend. There’s a $2.50 surcharge for those not having lunch.
