Clare Nichols was just happy to work amid the sparkle and shine of gems when she accepted a summer job at Knudtson’s Jewelers in Roseburg in 1962 after graduating from Oakland High School. Her summer job turned into a lifetime profession and eventually ownership of the business that was founded in 1884 in Myrtle Creek by John Bryan, the grandfather of her late husband, Jim.
