Wreck closes Interstate 5 southbound lanes between Riddle and Canyonville

A truck wreck has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 between Riddle and Canyonville, the Oregon Department of Transportation said at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver, James A. Vance, 44, of Philomath was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to Oregon State Police.

The northbound lanes were reopened about 5:45 p.m., and the southbound lanes were both opened around 1:40 a.m. today, according to ODOT.

Southbound traffic was detoured at Exit 103 and rerouted back onto I-5 at Exit 98.

Vehicles backed up almost six miles on the southbound side, causing long delays for drivers.

The truck was hauling a 178-foot concrete beam. The trailer and heavy load rolled over on a curve, crashing into the center divider.

Vance was cited on suspicion of failing to drive within a lane.
