Roseburg police identify woman found dead at park

Roseburg police today identified the woman found dead Saturday between Gaddis and Stewart parks as a 66-year-old woman who went missing one week ago.

Barbara Ann Jensen’s body was discovered in bushes just after 1 p.m. Saturday near the east end of the Riverfront Park disc golf course.

Police said in a press release that foul play is not suspected. Police did not return phone calls seeking further information on how Jensen died.

An officer at the scene Saturday said Jensen had no visible wounds.

Jensen’s family reported that she had been missing since April 21, and she was listed in state and national databases as a missing person, police said. She did not have a current residence, according to her family.

A disc golfer found Jensen’s body close to the fence that separates the park and Interstate 5. She was described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches and about 170 pounds, with brown hair.

Several people at Stewart Park said this morning that the news concerned them.

Walkers and runners alike said they didn’t know anything about the circumstances of the woman’s death, but had heard rumors about how she died.
