These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.

POLICE LOG

Wednesday

Douglas County sheriff

3:43 a.m. — Horses were seen in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at Milepost 152 at Yoncalla.

9:53 a.m. — Several people stayed at a hotel in the 300 block of Ruckles Drive, Myrtle Creek, and left in a bright yellow SUV without paying.

12:57 p.m. — A neighbor was shooting birds out of trees near the intersection of A and Main streets in Drain.

3:23 p.m. — A man in Glide reported that some friends had taken his disabled brother out to a bar the night before and gotten him drunk.

4:17 p.m. — A man who had just been released from jail discovered his car had been stolen from Walnut Street in Tri City.

4:54 p.m. — A man found some opened mail that didn’t belong to him in his mailbox in the 100 block of Bamboo Lane, Garden Valley.

Myrtle Creek Police

10:43 a.m. — A man reported that his neighbor kept two pit bulls unfenced in the 800 block of Northeast Christian Avenue.

Roseburg Police

6:43 a.m. — A male at a bus shelter in the 200 block of Southeast Jackson Street was hanging around but wasn’t interested in riding the bus.

9:09 a.m. — A woman found a used syringe in the 500 block of Denver Street.

9:13 a.m. — Residents in the 300 block of Pine Street were throwing garbage in the river instead of taking it to the dump.

11:12 a.m. — A woman with long, blond hair was outside a house in the 300 block of Pine Street rummaging through garbage.

12:25 p.m. — A woman in the 2200 block of Sunshine Road called police to report her brother had beaten her up.

3:06 p.m. — A store in the 2400 block of Diamond Lake Boulevard checked its stock of guns and discovered one had been stolen.

3:26 p.m. — A man near Stewart Parkway and Airport Road reported he was tired of people messing with him. A brown El Camino had just swerved and nearly hit him, and he said the next time it happened, he would throw a can of beans.

3:58 p.m. — Three transient males were drinking alcohol outside a restaurant in the 2300 block of Stewart Parkway.

6:24 p.m. — A man in a laundromat in the 100 block of Garden Valley Boulevard was cursing and being disruptive.

Sutherlin Police

12:49 p.m. — A customer conned an employee out of free food in the 200 block of Calapooya Street.

1:06 p.m. — A motor home that had been parked for two weeks at Casa de Loma Lane and Northeast Sixth Avenue and many people had been seen going in and out.

5:23 p.m. — A package was stolen from a porch in the 1200 block of Second Avenue.

Winston Police

9:04 a.m. — Two dogs showed up at a man’s house in the 200 block of Plum Ridge Drive with puncture wounds on their faces and chests.

10:05 a.m. — An unknown male wearing dark clothing was peering into windows in the 600 block of Elwood Street.

6:58 p.m. — A caller on Main Street and Thompson Road reported seeing a small balloon with fire under it. The balloon appeared too small to carry people.

ACCIDENTS

Wednesday

Roseburg Police

3:31 p.m. — Two vehicles collided near the Interstate 5 overpass at Edenbower Street.

7:34 p.m. — A vehicle hit a pedestrian in the 1500 Keasey Street. The pedestrian was able to walk around, but seemed disoriented.

ARRESTS

The News-Review publishes the names of individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of at least one felony charge or three misdemeanors or a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.

Wednesday

Douglas County sheriff

John Boid Aust, 36, of Roseburg on suspicion of fourth-degree misdemeanor assault, harassment, third-degree escape, possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation.

Andrea Dawn Haselow, 32, of Jacksonville on suspicion of first-degree forgery.

Randall Lee Slay, 41, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine.

Roseburg Police

Justin Charles Becherer, 20, of Eugene on suspicion of possession of marijuana and distribution of marijuana.

Daniel James Popham, 31, of Roseburg on suspicion of first-degree theft.

FIRE RUNS

Wednesday

Douglas County Fire District No 2

9:33 a.m. — A flue fire was reported in the 6200 block of North Umpqua Highway in Roseburg.

11:57 p.m. — A structure fire was reported in the 3000 block of Fisher Road in Roseburg.
