Two Douglas County women pleaded no contest Tuesday to bilking the government out of $12,000 in assistance payments by posing as a caregiver and the person who needed the care. The pleas likely will keep Lisa Marie Cobb, 51, of Winston and Dana Mechele Garren, 44, of Riddle from serving any time in jail. The plea deal Cobb and Garren struck with the Oregon Department of Justice, which is prosecuting the case, calls for restitution and probation, but no incarceration.
