A LaPine man who died Tuesday may have suffered a medical problem before driving off Highway 138 East and crashing head-on into a tree, according to the Oregon State Police. Buddy Glen Mires, 74, was driving a 2003 Dodge Durango east at about 4 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and went off the north side of the highway, troopers said. Mires was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed, troopers said. The accident occurred 28 miles east of Roseburg.
