A Riddle man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly chased two people out of a Roseburg woman’s apartment and attacked their car with an ax while they were inside it, Roseburg police say.
Police say the ax shattered the car’s passenger window and narrowly missed striking one victim in the face.
Brandon Ashley Percell, 27, was arrested on suspicion of harassment, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, reckless endangering, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and attempted assault.
Police say the incident began about 11 p.m., when Percell chased a 34-year-old Roseburg woman and a 30-year-old Roseburg man out of another woman’s apartment in the 500 block of Agee Street.
The pair fled to the woman’s car, and Percell allegedly grabbed an ax out of his pickup and started striking the car with it.
Police say Percell swung the ax through the passenger-side window, causing it to shatter in the man’s face. Officers say the man narrowly missed being struck in the face by the blade.
Percell then allegedly ran back into the apartment and attacked a 32-year-old woman who lived in the apartment. She sustained minor injuries.
Other tenants attempted to subdue Percell, but he fled the area on foot, police said.
Police found him and arrested him without incident soon afterward. Percell was in custody today at the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Police said Percell wanted the man out of the apartment, but had no other information immediately available about why.
