Douglas County grandma suspected in machete attack

A Winston woman allegedly threatened her grandson and his girlfriend with a machete Monday afternoon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found Loretta Kaiser, 74, threatening the couple in the 600 block of Raleigh Drive around 1:30 p.m., deputies said. All three lived at the location.

No one was injured in the incident.

Kaiser was arrested on suspicion of two counts of menacing and second-degree criminal mischief and lodged at the Douglas County Jail.

She was released at 9:37 a.m. Tuesday. The district attorney’s office has decided to not press charges, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman said.
