A Sutherlin man was arrested Thursday for allegedly attempting to kill a man over a trailer, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Joe Davis, 30, reported to police that he had just been shot at.

Davis told police he was driven to a residence to meet with Jason Silva, 45, about a trailer the two were having a disagreement over.

Davis said while he was walking up the driveway to the residence, Silva came outside and began shooting at Davis with a small caliber rifle.

Davis was able to get into his vehicle and drive away uninjured, but the vehicle was hit several times, according to police.

While deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office were interviewing Davis, Douglas County Emergency Communications received a call from Silva's wife who requested police return to her residence.

When deputies arrived they detained Silva without incident and recovered the firearm used in the shooting.

Silva was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
