The Douglas Timber Operators Grant Committee announced the recipients for 2017-18 scholarships. Applicants must live in Coos, Douglas and Lane counties and major in a natural resources-related field.

Three scholarships in the amount of $1,500 have been awarded to following Douglas County students:

  • Eston Hughey will transfer from Umpqua Community College’s forestry and natural resources program to Oregon State University’s college of forestry where he will pursue his bachelor’s degree in forest management.
  • Tristan Hudgeon is a recent graduate from Riddle High School who will enroll in UCC’s forestry and natural resources program. He plans to earn his associates degree and transfer to OSU college of forestry.
  • Ethan Harris will continue his studies at UCC in the forestry and natural resources program for the 2017-18 school year. He will transfer to OSU college of forestry in the fall of 2018 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in forestry management.
