Douglas County Parks Department announced this week a new yurt is open for use at Whistler's Bend County Park east of Roseburg.

The yurt is in the newest campground loop along the bank of the North Umpqua and features an expansive view from its deck. It's the third yurt placed at Whistler's Bend.

Yurt camping is an increasingly popular alternative to tent camping. It's sometimes called "glamping" because it involves no set up and better protection against the weather. The cost is $37 per night and the yurt can be reserved through the Douglas County Parks Department at 541-957-7001 or yourdcparks.com.
