Mothers rally together while a house burns and a baby is born | Moms

The Facebook Douglas County Momslist page goes far beyond its 'mom-to-mom sale' set purpose where local mothers post items for sale similar to Craigslist.

It seems to be a breeding center for strong opinions, ranting, raving and really, being pretty mean to each other.

However, yesterday the page sparked a heartwarming and overwheming response to the local mother who lost her home in a fire on southeast Main Street while she was giving birth in the hospital.

After one woman posted what had happened and urged the community to rally together, comments began flooding the page with clothing donations, monetary donations and more.

It seemed if someone had something to give, they were going to give it.

One local photographer offered the family a free photo session to mark "new beginnings" while the Southgate Market and Deli in Roseburg saw a wonderful repsonse after they set out a jar for cash donations.

According to the pages commenters and photos, a healthy new baby girl was welcomed to Douglas County yesterday afternoon while all of this was going on, and the family plans to stay at a friends home.

The Roseburg Dream Center is accepting donations and can give more information on what is needed.
