Ashley Alliman: Eat local, eat better this Thanksgiving | Moms

If there’s a coupon to be had, I probably have it. If there’s a deal available, you better believe I know about it. Coupons and deals are great and everything, but exactly what are they good for?

Typically, but not always, they are available for processed, mass-produced foods (i.e. “I just totally scored a party size bag of Doritos for FREE!”).

These days, I have become more of a skeptic than ever before and have made the decision to aim for as organic, local and natural as I possibly can.

Therefore, my Thanksgiving couponing tips have dwindled. I can no longer, in good conscience, encourage someone to purchase pre-made, mass-produced, well, anything. So, it was suggested that I introduce my plan for local, healthier options regarding that turkey-on-the-table and all of the fixings that go with it.

It really is a win-win: support your local businesses while eating cleaner and healthier this Thanksgiving.

Here’s a little tip: join their Facebook pages to be notified of sales.
