Roseburg man and wildlife volunteer team up to save starving hawk

A red-tailed hawk was released into the wild Monday morning after receiving a new lease on life, thanks to an observant Roseburg resident and a dedicated volunteer. Fred, as he was named by bird rehabilitator Ruth Saily, was found six weeks ago by Jimmy Harris. The 73-year-old man discovered the hawk struggling to move by the side of his driveway off West Military Avenue. “There was this big bird sitting there, just looking at me,” Harris said.
