CANYONVILLE: Stop yields heroin in trunk

A traffic stop Saturday morning on Interstate 5 north of Canyonville yielded two pounds of heroin concealed in the trunk of a car driven by two Vancouver, Wash. men, according to the Oregon State Police. Troopers stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Impala at 7 a.m. for speeding near Milepost 102. An investigation with the help of an OSP drug dog led to the discovery of the heroin. The estimated value was $70,000. Victor Hugo Barragan Alcazar, 18, and Armando Giovani Valencia, 18, were cited and released on suspicion of unlawful possession and distribution of heroin.
