WINCHESTER: Girl found after briefly missing

A 12-year-old girl missing from Winchester Elementary School was found Tuesday shortly after authorities called residents within a mile of the school to be on the look out.

The special needs student went missing around 11:40 a.m., according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The Douglas County Citizen Emergency Notification System called residents with a recorded message alerting them to the missing girl.

The child was found uninjured about a half mile east of the school in the 800 block of Page Road at 12:04 p.m. by a resident who had received the notification.

The sheriff’s office, Oregon State Police, the Roseburg police and firefighters from Douglas County Fire District 2 responded to the scene.
