Horticulture classes planned by OSU

Douglas County’s Oregon State University Extension Horticulture Program will offer a full day of garden seminars titled “Spring Into Gardening.” The seminars will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Umpqua Community College. The classes will provide homeowners with an overview of sustainable gardening topics. Each session will be approximately 1.5 hours. Homeowners may attend one seminar during each session for a total of four for $20. Topics will include vegetable gardening, composting, lawn care, growing berries, identifying and finding mushrooms, how to start a small agricultural business, plus many other topics.
