Oakland City Council appoints new member

The Oakland City Council on Tuesday appointed Tom Hasbold to fill a vacant seat. Hasbold, a teacher at Oakland High School, will be sworn in during the March council meeting. The city is currently taking applications for an opening on the historic and parks commission and two openings on the planning commission. There are also four vacancies on the budget committee. Three positions are three-year terms and one is a one-year term. Applications are available at City Hall, 637 Locust St., Oakland, and must be submitted by March 1. That committee meets Thursday evenings in April and occasionally in May. …
