Roseburg resident Caryl Baum has organized a community service honor called the Giving Heart Award, which will be presented for the first time Wednesday to Linus Oakes Retirement Village. Baum will present the award at 2 p.m. at Linus Oakes, 2665 N.W. Van Pelt Blvd., Roseburg. The award honors Baum’s late mother, Mary Jane Jordan, who made a painting called “Saving Freedom” that Baum believes foretold the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks 10 years before they happened. A copy of the painting was given to President George W. Bush and went to his presidential library. Jordan highly valued community service …
