The Umpqua Valley Audubon Society will host a low-key birding trip March 16 in Roseburg. The trip will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the north end of the bridge that crosses the South Umpqua River to reach the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The trip will be about two hours. Attendees can expect to explore oak woodlands looking for acorn woodpeckers, red shouldered hawks and passerines. They should bring a lightweight lawn chair, binoculars, snacks and water.
