A La Pine woman accused of eluding authorities in Coos County was arrested Sunday after she allegedly led Douglas County deputies on a short car chase and crashed her vehicle.
Deputies said they spotted a silver 2008 Honda Accord at about 10:30 p.m. on Highway 38 near Milepost 16 that matched the description of a stolen vehicle that eluded Coquille police earlier in the day.
The deputies tried to stop the vehicle near Milepost 17, but the driver failed to yield, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver, identified by deputies as Sarah Jane Hulgan, 23, lost control of the vehicle as she attempted to turn right near Weatherly Creek and struck the guardrail before landing in a ditch.
Hulgan was extricated from the vehicle and taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving, attempting to elude in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
She was taken to the Douglas County Jail, where she remained today in lieu of $212,500 bail.
