Legion Baseball Roundup: Corvallis takes wood to Docs

Dr. Stewart’s was defeated by Corvallis Gerding Builders, 13-2, Monday night in their annual American Legion baseball wooden bat game at Bill Gray Stadium at Legion Field.

The nonleague contest was stopped after seven innings due to the mercy rule. The Docs dropped to 13-20 on the season.

After a week of high energy, close games, Dr. Stewart’s had a tough outing against Corvallis with “too many” errors, coach Scott Shaver said.

The Docs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but gave up six in the second and it was a struggle the rest of the way.

Henry Rondeau and Tyger Liner had two hits each for the Marketmen (23-14). Jake Forrester went 2-for-4 and Cory Finlay doubled for the Docs.

The Docs will play at Medford Wednesday in an Area 4 doubleheader, then will host the Wilson Dirtbags Thursday night.
