Nebraska body ID'd as Roseburg man

A former Roseburg man who died of natural causes last weekend in his van in North Platte, Nebraska, apparently had a history of health problems, according to a police investigator.

The body of Mitchell William Freeman, 57, whose last known address was in Roseburg, was discovered in a van parked at a vacant lot beside a McDonald’s.

A man walking by the van reported seeing a body inside at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, went inside the restaurant and called police.

Montana relatives of Freeman had voiced concerns to him about his failing health, said Investigator John Deal of the North Platte Police Department.

“From talking to the family, it sounded like he had several health issues and he would not go to the doctor,” Deal said.

No injuries to Freeman’s body were found. No one else was inside the van. Police say Freeman appeared to have been living in the van.
