FAVORITE ATHLETE: Nolan Ryan, Hall of Fame California Angels/Texas Rangers/Houston Astros pitcher.

FAVORITE MOVIE: “Anchorman.”

FAVORITE MUSIC: Rock/Alternative.

PERFORMANCE: Compiled a record of 35-6 on the year and defeated all three of his opponents at the OSAA Class 2A/1A state championships by first-round falls last weekend in Portland. Pinned Central Linn senior Kaleb Gilbert in 1:13 to clinch the title and give the Oakers a sixth-place team finish despite having only two wrestlers with wins.

QUOTABLE: On winning his first title — “It set a little while after it happened, and it was kind of weird, because right when it was over it didn’t seem like it happened at all. It’s kind of cool though because I can say I did that for the rest of my life.”

On going from not placing in 2012 to champ — “Midway through the season (state champion David Henry) told me to do some different stuff and change my stance. I was better on my feet and I wasn’t hesitating as much; just getting after it.”
