TRI CITY — Tyler Johnson hit a two-run double into the gap to bring the go-ahead runs home in the seventh inning, completing the Pirates’ comeback after once trailing 7-2 in the nonleague game.
The Lancers (2-1) let Marshfield (2-4) take the lead by committing four errors in the sixth and consequently watching six runs cross the plate. In the bottom of the frame, however, Hayden Dowd tied the game with a run-scoring single.
But that was all for the Lancers, who issued two walks and let a third runner load the bases with a bunt single in the seventh.
Garrett Rudy pitched the first four innings, striking out five and yielding two runs. Colton Pringle hit a two-run home run in the fourth to pad his lead, and Dowd finished the night 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Lancers play a doubleheader Saturday at Philomath. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
