MEDFORD — As one of Roseburg’s High’s top golfers the last couple years, Arie Yraguen isn’t used to being left out of the scoring mix — especially when he cards an 80.
But that’s how good the Indians were as a team Wednesday at Centennial Golf Club, where their top four all shot 76 or better to win the North Medford Invitational by eight strokes.
Devin Caylor led the way for the Indians with a 1-over-par 73 to place second individually overall at the five-time event. Drew Groshong and Garrett Ramsey turned in matching 74s for a tie in third place and Zach Wilson accumulated 76 strokes.
Medalist honors went to North Medford’s Joey Walker, whose 35 on the front-nine holes was matched by Caylor. Walker finished at 3-under, though, while the Tornado was eight strokes behind Roseburg as a team with a cumulative of 305.
South Medford (336), Grants Pass (344) and Ashland (386) rounded out the team lineup.
Before the Indian boys and girls teams begin Southwest Conference meets next week, they’ll host the annual Cascade Challenge Invitational on Friday at the Roseburg Country Club. Action is scheduled to begin at noon.
