The Roseburg High tennis team expected South Eugene to be its strongest competition within the Southwest Conference this season. So even though the Axemen were without a top player Tuesday, the Indians still took their 7-1 win at Hoffman Tennis Center as a good sign.
Zach Carter rallied back in the No. 3 singles match, overcoming a first-set loss and winning an 11-9 tiebreaker, and all the other victorious Indians picked up their wins in straight sets.
Stefan Ball won the No. 1 singles match against Isaac Level, 6-4, 6-2, and Hunter Paschke took care of Ricky Pacana, 6-2, 6-2. The doubles teams of Sam Stadter and CJ Ball, Nick Foley and Nate Hansen, Matt Gade and Tanner Baumgartner, and Isaac Brickner and Cole Eibel took 48 of 55 sets from the Axemen in doubles action.
