Police log for April 17, 2013: Squatters crash at Nash Street in Roseburg

Douglas County sheriff

7:24 a.m. — A man was reported walking in the 4400 block of Carnes Road near Griff’s Market. He was screaming at and kicking cars and making lewd gestures. The man was later reported near Green Elementary School.

8:09 a.m. — A person staying at a Yoncalla motel reported having been menaced by a man with a gun who reportedly admitted to poisoning and shooting his own uncle.

9:11 a.m. — A cat was reportedly left behind a week ago by a tenant in the 2500 block of Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg. The cat had been left without food or water.

11:08 a.m. — A man reported another man hit him in the mouth after he asked him to leave an area where he was picking up items from storage. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of Clarks Branch Road in Myrtle Creek.

12:05 p.m. — A woman in the 16000 Block of Dixonville Road in Roseburg received a suspicious call from a man who wanted to know if she was home alone and said he was coming over to her house.

12:45 p.m. — A 1986 Toyota pickup was reported stolen from the intersection of Old Highway 99 and Roger’s Road in Roseburg.

12:59 p.m. — A man in the 500 block of Blackberry Lane in Roseburg reported two men trying to break into his house. He believed they were under his house and said he thought he saw the shadow of a gun.

6:05 p.m. — A man in the 400 block of Pickett Lane in Canyonville reported hearing what sounded like a large-caliber gun. He said he came out and found his windows shot out of his vehicle.

9:58 p.m. — A woman reported her children locked inside her car with the engine running in the 200 block of Emils Way in Roseburg.

Myrtle Creek Police

2:36 p.m. — A vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of Northeast Neal Lane.

Roseburg Police

8:51 a.m. — A noninjury accident was reported at the intersection of Northeast Cedar Street and Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard.

9:24 a.m. — A noninjury accident was reported at the intersection of Northeast Odell Avenue and Northeast Winchester Street.

11:34 a.m. — A 1988 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 200 block of Amanda Street. The car was ultimately recovered in the Winston area and an arrest made.

11:57 a.m. — A noninjury accident was reported at the 1400 block of Northwest Beacon Street.

2:25 p.m. — A minor injury accident was reported at the intersection of Southeast Cass Avenue and Southeast Parrott Street. One driver was taken to Mercy Medical Center with a complaint of neck pain.

5 p.m. — Officers responded to a vacant home in the 700 block of Northeast Nash Street where neighbors had reported suspicious noises. Officers cited two transients who were reportedly sleeping in the house and had damaged a door to gain entry.

Nicole Dawn Norton, 24, no address provided, on suspicion of first-degree burglary, first-degree theft and a parole violation.

Andy Roberts, 40, no address provided, on suspicion of computer crime, second-degree computer crime, second-degree theft and being a criminal in possession of a forged instrument.

Jacob Ryan Rogers, 21, no address provided, on suspicion of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and third-degree theft.

Robert James Webb, 51, no address provided, on suspicion of methamphetamine possession.

Joseph Lawyne Westhusin, 38, no address provided, on suspicion of first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and harassment.
