Roseburg police mask uncooperative suspect

A Roseburg man arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing beer and assaulting two store employees had to be fitted with a mask to keep him from spitting, police said.

Tyler Scott Schexnider, 34, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of third-degree theft and two counts of harassment, all misdemeanors.

Schexnider was accused of trying to shoplift beer from a Texaco station at 334 Harvard Avenue. He allegedly pushed a 38-year-old employee and punched a 50-year-old employee, police said.

Schexnider was uncooperative and was put in leg restraints, as well as the mask, police said. He was in custody in lieu of $6,250 bail.
