Police log: Intoxicated husband still fishing at midnight

These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.



Douglas County sheriff

12:47 a.m. — A yard on fire in the 300 block of Donald Terrace, Myrtle Creek.

2:55 a.m. − A person or multiple people were found squatting under the porch of a house in the 1100 block of Yokum Drive, Roseburg. The man who lives at the house has a gun and is in the pasture looking for the trespasser(s).

4:06 a.m. − A semitruck was headed northbound in the southbound lanes near Milepost 99, Canyonville.


12:02 a.m. − A gold Chevrolet pickup was seen driving all over the roadway and slamming on its brakes on Interstate 5 near Milepost 137.

12:11 a.m. − A 34-year-old male was found unconscious but breathing in the 200 block of Umpqua View Drive, Roseburg. His head was bleeding.

1:47 a.m. − Burglary in the 100 block of Northwest Oak Street, Canyonville.

2:20 a.m. − A woman called and is looking for her intoxicated husband who went fishing around midnight in an aluminum boat on Loon Lake, Reedsport. He has a Pisces tattoo on his right shoulder.

7:41 a.m. − A trooper attempted to overtake a small gray vehicle that was going 90 mph heading north from Wolf Creek on Interstate 5 near Milepost 76.

7:45 a.m. − Six cows in the road in the 3100 block of Roberts Creek Road, Roseburg.

8:10 a.m. − Four cows along the road and in someone’s driveway in the 2500 block of Melrose Road, Roseburg.

9:55 a.m. − Caller reported damage to his vehicle in the 100 block of Moreland Avenue, Drain.

11:34 a.m. − Theft in the 300 block of Merritt Street, Glendale.

11:50 a.m. − Theft in the 24000 block of North Umpqua Highway, Idleyld Park.

2:50 p.m. − Theft in the 1100 block of Buckhorn Road, Roseburg.

3:19 p.m. − A sheep walking in the roadway in the 1000 block of Brockway Road, Winston.

4:17 p.m. − A cow in the roadway near Clarks Branch and Dole roads, Roseburg.

4:47 p.m. − Several square hay bales in the roadway northbound on Interstate 5 near Milepost 147, Oakland.

5:18 p.m. − A small tree blocking both lanes in the 2800 block of Tenmile Valley Road, Tenmile.

5:28 p.m. − An adult female and several children went hiking in the morning and are missing in the 2200 block of Diamond Lake Loop, Diamond Lake. The caller is unsure if the group is on the Howlock Trail or Thielsen Trail.

5:47 p.m. − Report of an assault in the 300 block of Uphill Lane, Glide.

7:13 p.m. − The caller’s wife and two children were supposed to return home from camping and had not arrived home. They were driving a black 2008 Ford F350 pickup. They were camping in the 7200 block of Loon Lake Road, Reedsport.

8:49 p.m. − Two black cows in the roadway in the 900 block of Shoestring Road, Riddle.

8:54 p.m. − Theft at a swimming hole under a bridge in Dillard. The caller’s purse was stolen from her vehicle while she was swimming.

9 p.m. − A green Dodge truck backed into mailboxes and left the scene near Landers Avenue and Rolling Hills Road, Roseburg. The truck was last seen heading toward Interstate 5 from Kelly’s Korner.

10:38 p.m. − Multiple intoxicated people leaving Shady Drive near Roseburg. The caller was driving behind a white Ford pickup that was swerving and crossed the line several times near Melrose Road and Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard, Roseburg.

11:10 p.m. − A gold 2000 Honda Accord occupied by two people was seen swerving in its lane and driving at varying speeds northbound on Interstate 5 near Milepost 121, Roseburg.



Douglas County sheriff

12:56 a.m. − An ATV crashed in the 3400 block of Salmon Harbor Drive, Winchester Bay. The man, who is in his mid-20s, has a broken leg.

Noon − A noninjury, single vehicle accident southbound near Milepost 86, Azalea.

1:28 p.m. − A pickup pulling a trailer went over the median southbound on Interstate 5 near Milepost 159, Yoncalla. The truck was on the southbound side, and the trailer went over to the northbound side. No injuries were reported.

1:52 p.m. − Injury reported from a motorcycle crash in the 4600 block of North Myrtle Road, Myrtle Creek.

Myrtle Creek Police

David Allen Pryce, 45, Winston, on suspicion of felony probation violation and methamphetamine possession.

Roseburg Police

Shane Gabriel Burson, 25, Lopez Island, on suspicion of third-degree escape and failure to register as a sex offender.

Joseph Edwin Gish IV, 25, no address provided, on suspicion of methamphetamine possession and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Timothy John Rourke, 48, Glide, on suspicion of giving false information to a police officer, failing to carry and present an operators license, DUII, reckless driving, failing to perform the duties of a driver-hit and run and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Tyler James Wiard, 19, no address provided, on suspicion of methamphetamine possession.


Roseburg Police

Joseph Marcus Roberts, 27, Roseburg, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance schedule II and possession of methamphetamine.

Glen Schmitz, 22, no address provided, on suspicion of methamphetamine possession.


Douglas County sheriff

David Alan Sheppard, 49, no address provided, on suspicion of first-degree theft.

Roseburg Police

Jennifer Christine Smith, 35, Roseburg, on suspicion of two counts of methamphetamine possession, possession of a controlled substance schedule IV and two counts of oxycodone possession.
