Joe passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014. He was a beloved grandson, son, brother, and uncle. Joe never had any children but he loved all kids and he always had his faithful companion Eddie. He was born on October 26, 1981 in Mount Shasta, California and moved to Oregon when he was one year old. Joe was outstanding in soccer, playing midfielder in both classic league and high school. After attending Roseburg schools where he graduated in 2000, he went into the Navy with friends. He graduated nuclear power school as an electrician mate and was assigned onboard the USS Columbus, a fast attack submarine. Joe saw a lot of the world in his life. His hobby was Rock hounding and he had an extensive collection of unique rocks. He started working in a cabinet shop when he was sixteen as a helper and made this his lifelong career culminating as a master cabinet maker working for his father and in shops in Eugene. Joe never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many friends and colleagues. His cabinet work is throughout many houses and business from Linn County to Siskiyou County, in California.
He is predeceased by his grandparents and survived by his parents, Larry and Kathy Collier of Roseburg; his sister, Tracy Collier and Simon Devereaux; nephews, Aztin and Jociyah of Lebanon, Oregon; and Eddie his one eyed Jack Russell terrier.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held, 1 p.m. on Saturday March 1, 2014 at Cornerstone Family Fellowship 2837 W Harvard, Roseburg OR.
