Woodrow “Woody” Wright Wilson

Passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. He was born October 14, 1927, to Murdoch and Alma Wilson in Pike County, Mississippi.

Woodrow proudly served his country in the Army’s 82nd Airborne unit and after, for many years, as a Merchant Marine. He settled in Seattle in 1956.

Woodrow worked at Associated Grocers as an operating engineer before moving to Roseburg, in 1962. He opened Woody’s Heating and Refrigeration that same year and worked in the field for many years.

Woodrow was a Master Mason who had a strong faith in God. He enjoyed spending time with his family, discussing politics, singing and taking long Sunday drives.

Woodrow is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myrna (Rowe); daughter, Deborah Dennis and her husband Lon of Eugene, OR; son, Joseph Wilson and his wife Kristie of Roseburg, OR; Denise Klinger and her husband Scott of Olympia, WA; Danette Dye and her husband Blane of Newport Beach, CA. grandchildren; Lindi, Amy, Emma, Madison, Lauren, Blake, Gabriel and Ian; as well as his brother, Dalton Wilson. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel; brothers, Harlan and James; and sisters, Helen and Alice.

A celebration of Woody’s life will be held for family and close friends in July.
