Georgia Frances (Smith) Mead

Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in Bullhead City. She was born April 8, 1926, in Los Angeles, CA, to George and Frances Smith, the oldest of nine siblings. She looked after the youngins and became a great cook and mother figure. Married at seventeen, and had two boys; David and Donny, and later divorced. In 1948 met a burldigger in Oregon; Orville Getty, who had a girl and boy from a previous marriage; Sydney and Melvin. They then had a son; Gary. Orville died in 1984. She met Lloyd Mead, and they were happy as snow birds for nearly 20 years. They settled in Arizona. He passed in 2011. Georgia mastered the art of crafting with gems, beads, shells, jewelry, yarn, paint, and pine-needles. She was a true artist and gave her wonderful creations away. She was a giver, a mover, and a doer, who gave love and lovely gifts to everyone.

Georgia is survived by son, Gary Getty; daughter, Sydney McIntyre; siblings, Doris, Bob, Joe and Ron; step children, Victoria, Debra , Cathleen, Amber and Brian Mead; 14 grandchildren; and 14 step grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. A memorial to follow.
