Betty Lou Churchill

The beautiful spirit of Betty Lou Churchill left this world on March 20, 2014. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 13, 1932. Betty’s professional career led her on a legal journey that began at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. in 1950 and found its rest at Oregon Legal Services, where she dedicated service for 22 years. There, as well as in her personal life, she practiced compassion, taught patience, showed how to truly love one another, and continually found the silver lining. She is survived by her brother, Montague Clevenger of Roseburg; a son, Jonathan Churchill of Arizona; and a daughter, Louanne Fessenden of Roseburg; seven grandchildren: Kassandra Kendall, Larissa Hoskin, Robyn Mayorga, Jamie and Jeremy Fessenden, Eli and Travis Petersen; 10 great-grandchildren: Jordan and Zenna Kendall, Izayah, Madisson and Emalie Mayorga, Kristopher, McKenzii and Bryson Tuttle, Brayden Katzenburger and James Shelton, with number 11 arriving in October. She is also survived by a large extended family.

She is preceded in death by two daughters, Vonna Eva Marie Petersen and Laurel Marcia Flowers.

Anyone who knew Betty would attest to her kindred spirit and love for family, and she will be forever missed. Private services are being held, but memorial contributions are being accepted at 144 Bunting Ct., Roseburg, OR 97471.
