Margaret T. Miller

Margaret was born March 16, 1917, in Fosston, MN and died on Monday, April 21, 2014. She died peacefully at the age of 97 in her own home in Tenmile, where she was cared for by family members. One of seven children, Margaret was raised in Hallock, Minnesota and traveled out to Oregon in her early 20s with a girlfriend. She married, had a family and raised their three children in Portland. Her son, Gary Grove preceded her in death in 1980 at the age of 35. Gary is survived by his son, Tyrone Grove.

Margaret traveled all over the world, went on tours and cruises, and her and her husband, Jim Miller whom she married in 1970, were snowbirds for many years. After the death of her beloved husband, Jim in December 2005, she moved into her home in Tenmile to be next to her daughter.

Margaret was a believer in Jesus and lived her life according to her faith. She walked to the Midvalley Missionary Church in Tenmile every Sunday, rain or shine, even when 97 years old and blind!

Margaret was so efficient and capable, most folks weren’t even aware she was blind. She cleaned her house, cooked meals for her family members who visited often, and everyone who tasted her banana bread begged for more of it! She loved living in the country, near her family and hearing about the activities of all her grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Betty Hanson of Mesa, AZ; son, Steve Grove of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Luella Bennett of Tenmile, OR; grandchildren, Greg Bennett of Winston, OR; Brenda Spinola (Bennett) of Hayward, CA; Carol Sue Hice (Bennett) of Burnet, TX; Peggy Bennett of Roseburg, OR; Doug Bennett of Roseburg, OR; Gretchen Sybil (Grove) of Tampa, FL; Casey Grove of Tampa, FL; Stephenie Grove of St Petersburg, FL; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
