Age 88, passed peacefully from this life the morning of Tuesday, May 13, 2014, after a decline in health. He was surrounded by his family and caregivers during the final days. Earl was born in Mangum, OK, on May 5, 1926. He joined the Navy on 1944 and server in the Pacific Theater until the end of WW2. He settled in Douglas County since 1948. He moved to Myrtle Creek in 1995, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He retired from Roseburg Forest Products.
Earl is survived by his children, Janice Franklin Doolittle and David Franklin; four step children Sylvia Biggs, Trevor Wallis , Rose Preston and Jori Richards; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Earl is also survived by his sisters: Christine Scofield, Martha Henry and Mary McDonald; sister-n-laws: Dorothy Malone, Dorothy Bush and Janet Hollander.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Bush and later by Freda Way.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Roseburg VA National Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
