Local Baseball Roundup: North Medford edges Umpqua

MEDFORD — Larson Kindriech scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on an errant pickoff throw as the North Medford Mavericks defeated the Umpqua Lions 6-5 on Thursday in a nonleague Class A American Legion baseball game.

Dakota Adams was 3-for-4 with a double for North Medford.

Wryland McKnight doubled for the Lions, who dropped to 3-14 on the season.

Roseburg 14 Eagle Point 2

The Renegades scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and picked up a nonleague win at Sunshine Park.

Stephen Assed and Brody Black combined on a two-hitter for Roseburg (17-10 overall).

Assed got the win, allowing two hits and striking out four and walking one in five innings of work.

Carson Townsend knocked in two runs and scored twice for Roseburg. Paxton Shinn and Assed both had two RBIs, while Terrell Jacks scored two runs.
