Pat Vincent Sullivan

October 18, 1928 - June 30, 2014

Pat Vincent Sullivan of Bend, Oregon, passed away at his home on Monday, June 30, 2014. He was 85.

Pat was born October 18, 1928 in Lewiston, Idaho, to Herbert and Peggy (Baker) Sullivan. He along with his family moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1930, where he attended Old Rose School, Central Junior High School and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1946.

Pat attended Oregon State University, where he graduated with a BA degree in Business Administration with a minor in Dairy Manufacturing in 1950. While attending OSU, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and played the French horn in the College Symphony Marching Band.

In October of 1950, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War, where he received the distinguished Bronze Star Medal. Before shipping out, he married Edith A. Poirot, of Roseburg, OR on May 3, 1951.

Pat spent his entire career working for Umpqua Dairy before retiring in 1990. Some of his professional achievements include being the youngest licensed butter maker in the state of Oregon; President of Oregon Dairy Industries and President of the Oregon Dairy Council. Earlier in his career, he was a member of Jaycees, Paul Bunions and Umpqua Rodeo Assoc. Other accomplishments include being the Chairman of the Roseburg budget committee for six years and Charter member and President North Roseburg Rotary. Upon retiring to Sunriver, OR, Pat served on the Sunriver Citizen Patrol and Sunriver Public Safety Committee for six years.

Survivors include his wife Edith Sullivan of Bend, Oregon; a son, Ryan (wife Patricia) Sullivan of Ruston, Louisiana; granddaughter, Selena (husband, Justin) Preaus of Starlington, Louisiana, and Heather Sullivan of Ruston, Louisiana. Other survivors include Sister In-law, Raeda Poirot, two great grandchildren and a nephew.

Memorial Contributions in Pat’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one’s choosing.
