Age 84. George passed away suddenly at his home on November 15, 2012. He was born February 2, 1948 in North Bend, Oregon. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and was a rifleman. He earned several commendations and was stationed in Alaska. In 1959 he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Halstead. George worked on his parents dairy farm, was a commercial fisherman, truck driver, and logger. His passion was being out in the woods. His last job until his death was for Dean Logging as a watchman. He loved his job and all the people he worked with. He touched a lot of lives with his stories and onryness! He will be greatly missed. His favorite pastimes were camping, fishing, and meeting people. Catch one for us. Gone Fishing!!!
George is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister Wanda (Richard) Zaback; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 24 at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Chapel, 428 N. Old Pacific Hwy, Myrtle Creek. Interment will be held on Monday, November 26 at 11 a.m. at Eagle Point Veterans Cemetery.
