Sandi Lucich

Died in her husband’s arms at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning, November 17, 2012, after a long, courageous and inspiring battle against cancer. Sandi was born in Garrett, Indiana on October 7,1951 to Dane and Charlene Allen. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Ron, mother Charlene, brothers Chuck and Cliff Allen, sister-in-law Sherry, nephew Jon and his family, and aunts and uncles spread over the northwest. Her father preceded her in death in 1985. Sandi was a Dental Hygienist for over 25 years. Because of the cancer treatments, she had to retire from full time work. Sandi still worked part time so she could be in the loop of her workmates whom she loved to be with.

Sandi had an eye for beauty; her home and life reflected her beauty inside and out. While battling cancer Sandi opened a home flower and design business, Flowers By Luci. She also marketed wine for Anindor Vineyards and founded the Bosom Budz Relay for Life Team with the late Cheryl Seibel and Linda Tannes. The Bosom Budz team always placed high on the donation awards, earning thousands of dollars to fight that terrible disease. She also took great pride in being Decor Chair for the UWGA Greatest of the Grape gala. This allowed her to spread her wings through her creative eye. Her ability to work with anybody and tackle any problem, made her shine. Sandi had a saying, “I am too busy for cancer.”

Sandi was a “beautiful woman worthy of love and living in integrity,” a loving woman who lived her life giving to other people. She battled cancer and maintained her passion for life with love and true creativity in everything she did.

Sandi asked that her body and medical records be donated to research so that others might benefit from anything learned from her battle against cancer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bosom Budz Relay for Life Team in Sandi’s honor.

A celebration of life will be held on December 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the SOWI on the UCC campus, 1140 Umpqua College Rd., in Roseburg.
