Mary Esther Warren, 105 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2012. Esther was born in Glendale, Arizona on November 27, 1907 to George and Maria Dixon. She grew up in Chino, California with eight brothers and sisters, all deceased. On November 3, 1926 she married Kenneth Raymond Warren. All of their married life was spent in Whittier, California where they raised three daughters, Velma, Gwendolyn, and Dorothy. Kenneth managed a produce market until he went back to school to get his accounting degree. In 1938 he became the Superintendent of the Water, Street and Sewer Department of Whittier. They were active and long term members of the Free Methodist Church and spent many years working with the youth and Sunday school. Kenneth preceded Esther in death in 1973 and one daughter, Gwendolyn in 2007.
In 1980 Esther moved to Roseburg, Oregon to be close to family and has regularly attended the Wellspring Baptist Church. On September 30, 1990 she lost her leg in a car accident, but never let it defeat her. Her family will always remember her for her genuine Christian love and commitment. She was a beautiful example to all of us. She was interested in and loved the youth, missions, her home and flowers. She delighted in helping people and was generous with her time and money. Esther loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was our prayer warrior. She lived a long beautiful life. We will rejoice with her in heaven.
Survivors include two daughters, Velma (Jack, deceased 2002) MacDonald of Seattle, Washington; and Dorothy (Howard) Bineham of Roseburg, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Karen (Phillip) Birk, Norman (Carolyn) MacDonald, Kristine MacDonald, John (Terry) MacDonald, Jeffery (Jeannette) Bineham, Brian (Linda) Bineham, Shari (Rolando) Brown, and Kevin (Shannon) Bineham.
