Donald W. Woodruff

November 8, 1916 - December 13, 2012

Born in Sanders, Idaho, Don was raised in North Idaho. After business college in Spokane, Washington and work in the housing industry, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. Many knew he worked in Special Services, with the Big Bands and USO; many may not know he was a rated Marksman on four different rifles.

Returning to Roseburg, Oregon, Don worked at the Housing Authority of Douglas County for over 40 years, retiring as an Accountant in the early 1990’s. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and later the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by family from the Pacific Northwest and around the globe.

The interment will be December 28, 2012, 2 p.m. at the Roseburg VA. A memorial will be scheduled in January at the Garden Valley Retirement Center at 1800 NW Hughwood here in Roseburg.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital, and Sandy and Ralph Corliss of the Transitional Care Home on Happy Valley Road for excellent care. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to Saving Grace of Roseburg, OR, since Don loved animals.
