Passed away at the age of 85 on December 27, 2012. David was born July 26, 1927 and raised in Oakland, Oregon by parents Eva and Scott Goodman who were both lifetime Oregon residence. David (Dave) Goodman was preceded in death by his father Scott, and mother Eva, and two older siblings Velda Goodman Childers and Ivan Scott Goodman. Dave spent his school years in Oakland and left early to join the Marines during WWII. He served his country for two years, and then returned home to finish his schooling. Oakland at that time was predominately a logging area and Dave drove pole and log trucks in the early 1950’s. He met and married his wife Doris in 1952, they too settled down in Oakland where they raised their three boys David, Dan, and Doug. Dave retired after 20 years from Roseburg Lumber. Upon retirement he spent many hours doing what he loved best, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends hunting and fishing. He also loved and looked forward to watching his sons and grandchildren participate in their sports. Dave is survived by his wife Doris of 60 years; sons David, Dan and wife Paulette, and Doug and wife Sharon; and six grandchildren Derek, Bo, Michelle, Katie, Patrick, and Scott. A special thanks to Dr. Layne Jorgensen and staff as well as Mercy Hospice for their loving care. No services will be held at Dave’s request. Private interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor’s Family Chapel.
