Jonathan Rock Johnson

July 22, 2010, Born to Ron and Paula Johnson. A gift from Heaven to his family and all who knew him.

January 11, 2013, Swept into the arms of Jesus.

Jonathan Rock “Jehovah Gave” our rock of strength. In his short life, he reached out and embraced life more abundantly than most people do in a lifetime.

Jonathan was a beautiful little boy who wanted to draw as much out of life as he possibly could. He was the happiest to just be at “home” with his family. He was completely bonded with everyone of his siblings but he had a special bond with his oldest brother, Hunter. Hunter taught Jonathan to love music. Together, they listened to music, made music, danced and made special memories by taking pictures and making funny movies. In Hunter, he found comfort and the special love of a protective brother. Jonathan was more compassionate and caring for others than seemed possible for a two year old. He loved playing babies, being “the Daddy” and playing “apple amily” (Happy Family) with his sister Hannah. He accepted her just as she was and she adored everything about his “so cute” little ways. He chose his sister, Abigail to take him where he wanted to go and to help him do what he wanted to do. Their love was one of strength and together they tackled every aspect of life with joy. He grew under his sister Rachel’s sweet and patient love as she rocked him, sang to him, read to him and gently tried to teach him all he wanted to learn. Their love was gentle and true. How he adored and looked up to his brother Gabriel. They were best friends. Together they grabbed life by the tail and swung it around. Jonathan loved to “race” and Gabe would so sweetly let Jonathan say, “I win” or “I got it.” They loved cars, motorcycle and to drive their jeep. They wrestled, built, did chores, played and talked together all the time. Jonathan loved his momma. As they faced many medical situations together, he was more concerned with Mommies tears of sadness for her “little Mister” than the pain he might be experiencing. Momma’s arms were best for being rocked, held, kissed, sheltered and comforted. His Momma loved him more deeply than words can ever describe. Jonathan had a wonderful sense of humor that he got from his Daddy. He seemed to always have a smile or be joking even when he was being naughty. And, like his Daddy, he had a tender heart and was so easily encouraged to be good. He and Daddy loved football, bike rides, fixing things together and making life fun. Jonathan looked up to his Daddy and drew strength, comfort and protection under his loyal love. Their bond was unbreakable!

“Jonathan Rock, You taught us to live and love freely and completely and that it’s absolutely worth the risk! You taught us that life is too short to feel sorry for ourselves. To embrace life even when it is painful. To find peace in the midst of suffering. You taught us that joy can be found all around us if we are just willing to see it and accept it. You showed us what it is to have strength through weakness and surrender. No words can describe how deeply you touched our lives! So wise beyond your baby years, you were our angel, a gift from God! You burst into our lives and turned them upside down. You gave us what we didn’t know we needed in ways we would never have expected! Our loss is so great! But, our only hope is that by God’s grace, we can move beyond our grief and pain and embrace life as you did! That we can live the way you lived! Love the way you loved! Trust the way you trusted! Forgive the way you forgave! Sing the way you sang! Pray the way you prayed! Our Sweet precious baby boy, we leave you in the arms of Jesus even while our hearts yearn to sweep you up with joy when we meet you in heaven! We Love You!”

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 26 at 2 p.m. at Melrose Community Church, Roseburg, Oregon.
