Susan Jean Talcott

Died on Monday, December 3, 2012 at home on Waterfall Lane in Glide, Oregon. She was born October 26, 1952 in Roseburg, Oregon to Jean and Watson Talcott.

She was glad to have known her grandparents Carl and Odille Messing and Claud and Waitha Talcott.

Susan is survived by her mother, Jean Cross, and siblings, Cindy Medlar, Melissa Landy, and Bill Talcott. Beloved nephews and nieces are Neil Medlar, Marie Bird, Nathan Medlar, Betsy Christensen, William Otto, Andrew Talcott, and Simon Talcott. There are 12 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Aunt and Uncle, Jane and Neil Talcott.

Susan received the “Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Award” and was Valedictorian for the Glide High School Class of 1970. Following high school she was a DFPA lookout on Baughman Butte and attended UCC, then Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton where she earned an Associates Degree. She was bookkeeper for Athena Cattle Feeders for several years then returned to Glide and was employed by Douglas County Office of Management and Finance and Douglas County Sheriff’s Department for nearly 30 years. She was director of Sonshine Kids and the Awana Program at Glide Baptist Church in the early 1990’s.

Susan enjoyed family holidays at the coast, adventures in the mountains and trips up the river - any river. She found lifelong pleasure from her horses, dogs, and cats.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

We are confident that while she is “absent from the body” she is present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5).
