Melvin E. Barron of Myrtle Creek passed away on January 24, 2013 at age 73.
Melvin was born on June 24, 1939 to Harland and Mary Barron in Drain, Oregon and was raised in Days Creek, Oregon. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Hubbard. They were married on March 30, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Dillard, Oregon. Melvin and Helen had four children; Harley Barron (Ava), Harold Barron (Kelly), Robin Malone (Tim), and Melissa Fields (Dellard). A devoted grandfather, Melvin is remembered by his ten grandchildren; Jared Allen, Carry Sorenson (Dallen), Rob Jenks (Tiffany), Ryan Barron (Kristina) Blake Barron, Logan Barron, Jessie Galivan, Haley Fields, Mandy Preston (Josh), and Holly Malone. He will be lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren; OBryan, Tacoma, Trinity, London Rose, Chloe, Saydie, Baili, Emeri, Caidyn, and Railyn. Melvin is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Pearl Adams, Easter Alexander, Judy Pinnell, Robert Barron. He is predeceased in death by his father and mother, brothers Ervin Barron and Junior Barron, and sister June Barron. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Melvin served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959. He worked as a forklift driver at Douglas County Lumber for nearly twenty years until the company sold in 1985. Melvin later worked at Roseburg Forest Products before retiring at the age of 53.
Along with being a loving father, brother, and grandfather, Melvin enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with family. Melvin was most passionate about running their family business, Umpqua Security Service. A celebration of life will be held at the Myrtle Creek Grange on February 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. this will be a potluck. Melvin Barron’s final resting place will be at the Roseburg Veteran’s Cemetery on February 4 at 1;00 pm. We would like to give a special thanks to Chris Linn.
