Roy Edward Dougan


Roy was born June 6, 1925 in Hazelgreen, Missouri, to his parents George and Elsie Dougan. Roy was a World War II Veteran. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force.

He married Ruth Crisp on July 21, 1947. During their 66 years of marriage, he was a faithful husband who loved his wife dearly.

Roy worked at the Mill in Myrtle Creek until it shut down, then at Hanna Nickle Mine until it shut down, then finished his working career at Winetrout Ford in Myrtle Creek. Roy loved to hunt, fish, go crabbin at the coast, work in his garden and cut wood. Roy was a long time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Myrtle Creek.

Roy is survived by his wife, Ruth; his two sons, Edward and Richard (Diana) Dougan of Canyonville; a daughter, Kathy (Michael) Marcy of Santa Ana, CA; a brother, James (Sylvia) Dougan of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren: Stephanie, Angel, Stephen, Kariss and Katrina; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is loved and missed by all. He now enjoys real life and peace and would not want to return to this world.

Memorial service will be Saturday, February 16, at 1 p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church in Myrtle Creek.
