Animals lucky to be at Safari

I would love to express my appreciation for Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. I feel that the park is a treasure for the community and for the entire region. I have been traveling as a nursing consultant and have had many folks come from out of state to visit the Safari. They truly are astonished with what we have right here in Douglas County.

I have had the privilege of serving as a docent at the park for almost a year. What a privilege it has been to witness such dedication and care for all the animals of the park. The staff is so committed and loves the animals very much.

Many of these animals have been rescued from lethal or dire circumstances. Our veterinarian is very competent and caring. I have said many times as an OB/Pediatric nurse of 42 years that I just wish all humans and especially children were treated as well as the animals lucky enough to be living at Wildlife Safari.

The education that is provided by the curator and the staff is outstanding. We all need to understand the vulnerability of animals in the wild due to humans and the loss of habitat. I also have witnessed a number of families enjoying the village. I have been especially impressed by the number of fathers taking their children for an educational day.

Anyone can enjoy the village at no charge. The children are so happy and community members can even take their lunch and allow their children to learn about animals and enjoy the environment.
