DOUGLAS COUNTY: Best Bets for March 15-17

HONKY TONK FUN — The North Douglas Performing Arts Council presents Bob Manning and the Honky Tonk Roadshow at 7 p.m. tonight at the Drain Civic Center, 205 West A Street. The band combines vintage electric sound, smooth swing and the sounds of southern Texas into a family friendly show. Tickets are $5 at the door and refreshments will be available. 541-836-2505.

CHORALE PERFORMANCE — The Roseburg Concert Chorale is performing their spring concert at 7:30 tonight at the First Presbyterian Church, 823 S.E. Lane Ave., Roseburg. They will perform again at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Tri City Presbyterian Church, 355 Meadow Lane, Myrtle Creek. The featured work will be a cantata by Jason Heald. Donna Spicer will be the soloist. SPUDS FOR SUTHERLIN — The Oakland Singers will perform Irish tunes to accompany the Calapooia Reflections annual potato feed from 5 to 7:30 tonight at the Sutherlin Community Center, 150 S. Willamette St. A variety of toppings will be offered for the potatoes. Dinner will include a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Cost is $6 for a whole and $3.50 for a half. 541-459-4522.

BIRD SIGHTING — The Umpqua Audubon Society is hosting a lazy day birding event at 8:30 Saturday morning. Attendees should meet at the north end of the green bridge near Fir Grove Elementary School, 1360 W. Harvard Blvd., Roseburg. Event is a short, easy viewing lasting about two hours. Bring a lightweight lawn chain, binoculars, snacks and water.

WHITTLE AWAY — The Umpqua Carvers Club is hosting its annual Carving Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Roseburg Senior Center, 621 Madrone St. Watch wood workers carve and whittle. Browse handcrafted items for sale. There will be a dollar raffle for crafts. 541-672-3671 or 541-863-7715.

PUB CRAWL — The 15th annual St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl starts at 6 p.m. Saturday throughout downtown. McMenamins Pub starts the festivities with a beer garden at 4 p.m. at 700 S.E. Sheridan St., Roseburg. The pre-function features a limerick contest, prize wheel and leprechaun contest. The crawl includes 14 pubs, taverns and lounges.

POTATO BINGO — The city of Oakland is hosting a baked potato bingo fund-raiser at 6 p.m. Sunday at the historic Washington School, 637 Locust St., Oakland. Potatoes with assorted toppings are $5; beverages and desserts are 50 cents. There will be prizes for winners. The Oakland Singers will serenade attendees at 6:30. A portion of the proceeds supports the Oakland Children’s Play Park renovation project. 541-459-9504.
